This is a student-led petition for Kennesaw State University to immediately cover and remove all Flock Safety devices leased by the university, and permanently discontinue all other business with the company.

Here is a list of reasons why we demand removal:

  • Flock shares broad1, anonymized2 3 access to university cameras and the data it derives from them. This creates tangible safety and privacy issues for students4.
  • Flock changed the capabilities of its audio detection devices after pitching the devices as incapable of voice recording5.
  • Flock enables and protects stalkers who use its national network. After stalking cases started gaining mainstream coverage in late 20256 7, Flock locked KSU PD out of seeing unredacted access logs of university cameras3.
  • Flock’s audit logs are not immutable as the company promises8 9.
  • Flock appears to be in violation of KSU’s Data Security Policies10.

Other universities, such as Emory and Stanford, have recently cut ties with Flock Safety for similar reasons.
